Sargodha: At least 8 people were killed and around 13 injured after an LPG cylinder installed in a passenger van exploded in Bhalwal city of Sargodha district.

A white Toyota HiS van, with a sub-standard cylinder filled with LPG gas for fuel, was on its way to Kot Momin when the unfortunate incident took place.

Police say that the explosion occurred due to a gas leak from an LPG cylinder. Immediately after the cylinder exploded, the car caught fire.

It added that the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, while the driver of the private company’s van escaped from the spot.

Such incidents are not uncommon in Pakistan as many passenger vans have substandard cylinders, with no quality and safety checks.
