RAWALPINDI: Eight terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
ISPR said in a statement that during the operation in Zarmlan area, there was a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists, in which the militants were killed.
However, two soldiers – Lance Naik Shoaib Ali, 25, a resident of Kurram, and Sepoy Rafiullah, 22, a resident of Lakki Marwat – embraced martyrdom after fighting bravely.
ISPR further said that arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the slain terrorists. The slain terrorists were active in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians.
The media wing of the army added that the area is being cleaned to eliminate other terrorists found in the area.
“Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices by our brave soldiers only strengthens our resolve,” it added.
