The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has said in its reply submitted to the accountability court that no evidence was found against Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Khawaja Salman Rafiq in the Paragon Society scandal while the sworn witnesses also refused to testify.

NAB submitted a written response to the acquittal pleas of the Khawaja brothers in the accountability court of Lahore.

According to the report submitted by the NAB in the court, after the investigation of the three fugitive accused, fresh testimonies and evidences came out, after which the charges against the Khawaja brothers related to the Paragon Society would have ended by themselves.

NAB wrote in the reply that an investigation report is being prepared on fresh evidence which will be submitted to the court after the approval of the competent authority.

The report said that the sworn witness and the then chairman of Paragon Society Qaiser Amin Butt deviated from his earlier statement while the evidence of another accused proved that the Khawaja brothers were not partners in Paragon Society.

Khawaja will hear the acquittal pleas of the brothers on December 13.
