Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nasir Hussain Shah said on Saturday that the MQM-P has withdrawn its candidate from the elections for the vacant Senate seat in favor of PPP candidate Waqar Mehdi. has taken, allowing them to be elected unopposed.
Nasir added that the withdrawal should not be misconstrued as any kind of deal between PPP and MQM-P.
The Senate seat fell vacant after the resignation of PPP’s Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.

Last month, the former senator announced his resignation in a statement on Twitter, saying he was told by a senior party leader that the PPP leadership was not happy with his political positions and wanted his resignation.
“I gladly agreed to resign.”
“As a political activist, I value my right to express my opinion on matters of public interest. I am grateful to the party leadership for giving me the Senate seat from Sindh, differences aside,” he said. Having said that, it’s been a wonderful journey with them and I wish them all the best,” he added.
Sources told JEE News that PPP Senator Farooq H Naik informed Khokhar about the party’s concerns.
