Talking about the damage caused by floods, Ahsan Iqbal said that a framework has been developed to make Pakistan a climate resilient country. Speaking at the National Flood Response Center in Islamabad, he added that the framework would also be presented to the international community for their assistance.

The PML-N leader pointed out that the Centre, the federal units, the armed forces and other institutions have successfully dealt with the immediate challenge posed by the recent devastating floods. As a result of this synergy, we were able to minimize the impact of the disaster.

The minister pointed out that the floods caused losses of more than $30 billion, which is 10 percent of the country’s GDP. He said that Balochistan and Sindh provinces saw the worst destruction. He urged the philanthropists to continue helping the flood victims till the full recovery of the victims.

He said the establishment of the Damage and Loss Fund at the climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh was a major victory as Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and leaders of other developing countries strongly presented their case.

The Federal Minister said that Pakistan is one of the countries most affected by climate change and the help of the international community is being sought to deal with this challenge.

On December 1, Ahsan Iqbal announced plans to share a framework based on Resilience, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery (4RFs) with international partners the following week before formally presenting the document at the Pakistan Donors Conference. It is fully prepared.
