Paris: The cast of Emily in Paris took over a theater on Avenue Montaigne on Tuesday for the world premiere of season three of the hit Netflix series in the city of lights.

Creator Darren Starr explained that upcoming shows add more to the characters.

“Everybody has some strong stories — it’s not just about Emily,” Starr said.

Set for release on December 21, the new season stars television comedy star Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, an American who moves from Chicago to the French capital for a marketing job.

“Emily is a little more grounded in herself this season, she’s quietly confident, she’s a little more French,” Collins said.

Watched by 58 million households in its first month, the series debuted in 2020 at the height of the pandemic lockdown and became the most popular comedy on Netflix that year.

Kate Walsh, who plays Madeleine Wheeler, noted that the streets were more crowded during filming this season.

It has sparked outrage in France for its caricatures of Parisians while inspiring tourists from abroad to take selfies in front of the Eiffel Tower and eat at Emily’s favorite spots.

“Tourism is doing well in Paris, everyone is wearing berets,” said William Abadi, who plays a perfumer.

Filipino Leroy Beaulieu, who plays Emily’s French boss, said that while the series pokes fun at the French, it also takes on Americans — but hinted at a new collaboration between his character and Emily.

“I think she’s influencing Emily a lot more than Emily thinks and Emily is influencing her a lot more,” Leroy Beaulieu said.

Two new cast members, Paul Forman and Melia Kreiling, are joining the upcoming series.

One of the characters, Nicholas, “tries to prove himself as an individual,” said Foreman, who plays a rich son.
