Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Ejaz Chaudhry said that he expected Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to dissolve the provincial assembly like he did to Imran Khan.
These remarks of the PTI leader have come at a time when the Chief Minister of Punjab, after the announcement of the dissolution of the Assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the PTI chief on different occasions regarding the dissolution of the Provincial Assembly. Concerns have been expressed.
Imran Khan demanded early elections from the current government.
Speaking to JEE News while visiting Sundus Foundation in Lahore, he said that the Assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be dissolved in 10 to 15 days.
On the question whether the Chief Minister will dissolve the Punjab Provincial Assembly, he said that unnecessary speculations should not be made.
The PTI leader said that 73 percent of Pakistanis want early elections and they want early elections.
In response to a question, he said that if there is an understanding between President Arif Alvi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, it will be a welcome development. However, nothing short of snap elections will be discussed, he pointed out.
Chief Minister is against immediate dissolution of Punjab Assembly.
Speaking to a private news channel on December 4, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that I did not see elections taking place in the next four months.
The chief minister said that the elections cannot be held before four months, the federal and provincial governments need time to work and the elections may be delayed even after October next year.
PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry also said that Khan has advised all party legislators to go back to their constituencies and prepare for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Imran Khan willing to dissolve assemblies
Khan had last week expressed his willingness to prevent the dissolution of the Punjab and KP assemblies if the coalition government agreed to hold elections by the end of March next year.
If they are ready for elections by the end of March, we will not dissolve the assemblies. Otherwise, we want to dissolve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Assemblies and hold elections,” Khan said in an interview to a private news channel.
He added that his party would not agree on any date after March and if the government did not agree, the assemblies would be dissolved this month [December].
