PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said in an interview on Saturday that the Daily Mail’s apology is proof of his innocence and PTI chiefs Imran Khan and Shehzad Akbar should now hang their heads in shame.
The PML-N founder, who has been in London since 2019, added that Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has already given a ‘clean chit’ to Shehbaz Sharif after due diligence.
Nawaz further said that UK is not ruled by Muslim League-N, PTI or any other Pakistani party, it is a democratic state with free and fair judicial system. Nawaz said that there can be no greater proof of innocence than the court of such a country giving a clean chit to someone.
The former prime minister further said that Imran Khan and Shahzad Akbar should hang their heads in shame after the Daily Mail’s apology. He further said that these people have defamed the country abroad.
He further said that the statements of former judges Shaukat Siddiqui and Arshad Malik, the audio leak of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and the annulment of the verdict against Maryam Nawaz by the IHC are proofs of her innocence.
On the other hand, he added that the allegations of corruption against Imran Khan are proven. He further said that everyone knows about the Tosha Khana scandal.
A certified corrupt person is making allegations of corruption against people who have been proven innocent in national and international courts, Nawaz lamented.

Apologies to the Daily Mail
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif won a major defamation victory against Associated Newspapers (publishers of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday) over an article published by reporter David Rose.
Court records show that the newspaper took nine extensions of defense in support of its story that was published on the grounds that the newspaper and the reporter already had all the evidence.
The Daily Mail’s publishers and Prime Minister Shehbaz’s lawyers signed a settlement agreement with the Tomlin order in the second week of December 2022, after which the Daily Mail removed the defamatory article and apologized to the Prime Minister and his son-in-law.
