Prime Minister approved promotions of bureaucrats.

Islamabad: Sources said on Friday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after closely reviewing the minutes of the CSB meeting has approved the Central Selection Board (CSB) for promotion of officers of all groups as well as ex-cadre officers to Grade 20 and Grade 21. ) approved the recommendations.

Sources, however, said that the Prime Minister has changed the recommendation to dismiss some officers to adjournment. Sources further said that after the Prime Minister’s approval, the Establishment Division and concerned Secretaries will issue notification for promotions and new appointments of officers.

The six-day CSB meeting was held from August 10 to 15. The CSB had recommended promotion of officers of all services and groups, including X-cadre, to grades 20 and 21. Later, the Establishment Division sent the recommendations to the Prime Minister for final approval.

This matter was pending in the Prime Minister’s Office for more than two and a half months. According to sources, after a detailed review of the CSB minutes, the Prime Minister approved the minutes and sent them to the Establishment Division on Friday.

Sources also said that during this period some officers who were not recommended for promotion made a presentation to the Prime Minister about their reservation. He further said that the Prime Minister personally reviewed the matter and confirmed it through his sources.

According to sources, the Prime Minister termed the decision to dismiss some officers as unfair and issued orders to the CSB members to change the supersession to adjournment and to implement the remaining recommendations of the CSB.

Immediately after receiving the CSB from the Prime Minister’s Office a few minutes ago, the Establishment Division had started planning the notification of promotions and appointments. Sources said that the notification is likely to be issued on Monday.
