Twitter will relaunch a new version of its subscription service Twitter Blue on Monday at a higher price for Apple users, the company said in a tweet on Saturday.
Users can subscribe to the new service, which will allow users to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos and receive blue checkmark post account verification, for $8 per month via the web, the company said. via Apple iOS for $11 a month.
Twitter has not explained why Apple users are being charged more than others on the web, but media reports have suggested the company is looking into ways to eliminate the fees it charges in the App Store. .
Twitter initially launched Twitter Blue in early November before putting it on hold as fake accounts grew. It was then scheduled to relaunch on November 29 but was pushed back.
Elon Musk, who took Twitter private in November for $44 billion, filed various grievances with Apple in a series of tweets last month, including 30 for in-app purchases from software developers by the iPhone maker. Lower prices on the website were also likely to drive more users to the platform as opposed to signing up on their iPhones, the report said. It did not say whether there will be a price change for the Android platform as well.

Twitter halted its recently announced $8 Blue Check subscription service because of an increase in fake accounts. The change comes a week after Musk took over the social media company.
