Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will pay an official visit to the United States from December 14 to 21, where he will meet with the head of the United Nations and preside over the meeting of the G77 conference.
The Minister’s program includes a number of multilateral and bilateral engagements in New York and Washington DC.
From December 15 to 16, the foreign minister will be in New York where he will host and chair the ministerial conference of the G-77 and China – the largest negotiating bloc of developing countries within the UN system. The agenda of the conference includes discussions on several challenges facing developing countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate-related disasters and geopolitical developments.
Pakistan’s top diplomat will also meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and participate in a high-level discussion at the UN Security Council on “Restoring International Peace and Security: New Directions for Reformed Multilateralism”. will take
The foreign minister will then travel to Washington, DC on December 19, where he will hold meetings with senior government officials, congressional leaders, Pakistani-American businessmen and community members. He will also speak to think tanks and the media.
During their formal meetings, bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest will be discussed to advance the momentum of Pakistan-US bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade, investment, climate resilience and economic development.
Bilawal will also share Pakistan’s perspective on climate change, and inform his dialogue about the massive damage caused by climate-related floods in the country and the Government of Pakistan’s post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation plan.
