Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan announced the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly this month.

The PTI had earlier given the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition government a deadline of December 20 to announce the date of the elections. Otherwise, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Assemblies will be dissolved as Imran Khan announced last month. The ruling alliance, which had initially announced to block the PTI’s move, has now changed its stance and dared its rival to dissolve the assemblies.

The PTI chief chaired a consultative meeting with legislators from Bhakkar, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal. Sources say that the members approved the decision to dissolve the provincial assembly.

Sources say that Imran Khan told the lawmakers that the assembly will be dissolved this month and the date of dissolution will be made public before December 20.

“PML-Q is an important ally. We have informed them of our decision,” Imran Khan said. He said that Muslim League (Q) is on the same page with PTI on the issue of dissolution of the assembly.

He said that our politics is not above the country, this government has destroyed the country’s economy.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Sabtain Khan also said that all members of the Provincial Assembly have supported Imran Khan’s decision.

There is disagreement.
In a statement released a day ago, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar admitted that there is a difference among the party members regarding the dissolution of assemblies.

He said that some members of the party are in favor of the immediate dissolution of the assemblies while some are against this decision. However, he said some party members believed there should be an extension of two to three months.

PTI’s warning
A day earlier, PTI senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry had warned the ruling coalition that the party would order the dissolution of the assemblies if the final date for the next general elections was not announced by next week.

“The leaders of the imported government do not want elections and have no idea how to run the country,” the former federal minister claimed on Twitter.

Fawad said, “If the PDM does not come up with the formula for holding general elections by December 20, the assemblies of Punjab and KP will be dissolved.”

He said that the process of holding general elections in both the provinces will be completed by March 20 and in this regard, PTI has full confidence of its allies.

PTI Vs Muslim League Q
Earlier, Fawad had said that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi had suggested extending the date of dissolution of provincial assemblies.

Contrary to Khan’s announcement that the Punjab and KP provincial assemblies would be dissolved this month, the Punjab chief minister said on December 5 that he did not see elections taking place in the next four months.

It does not matter if the National Assembly is not dissolved. He further said that after the elections, new governments will be formed in Punjab and KP in March.

There will be no elections in the next four months.
On December 5, Chief Minister Punjab said that he did not see elections taking place in the next four months.

“Elections cannot be held before four months, the federal and provincial governments need time to work and the elections may be delayed beyond October next year,” he said.

Although the PML-Q leader has repeatedly said that he fully supports Khan’s decisions, his statement contradicts Khan’s threats to dissolve the assembly soon.
