ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry was quoted by JEE News as saying that the current establishment is not apolitical but its interference in political matters has decreased under the new military leadership.
While giving an interview, Fawad compared the two military leaders and said that the difference is that the number of unknown calls received by the PTI leaders has reduced considerably compared to the calls received during the last several months.
Referring to Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi’s statement that the establishment does not want the dissolution of assemblies as it will increase political and economic instability, the PTI leader also termed it as establishment interference in politics. He insisted that such purely political matters should be left to politicians.
PTI is constantly asking the establishment to force the government to hold early elections. The former information minister also referred to the cases of party leaders Senator Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gul to emphasize his point that the establishment has not become apolitical.
The PTI spokesperson instead said that the establishment always has a political role. When asked about former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s announcement that the Army has decided to depoliticize an institution, he said that the establishment will not be depoliticized based on mere statements.
Fawad said that Tehreek-e-Insaaf wants working coordination with the new establishment. He said that the establishment should have working coordination with all political parties, adding that the army belongs to the entire nation and therefore cannot be linked to any particular political party.
The PTI leader added that all political parties should have a good view of the institution and therefore PTI also wants good working coordination with the army.
Fawad said that the top leadership of the army needs a working relationship with all political parties. He said that PTI does not want the army to support it, if the party wants to dissolve the assemblies, it should not happen that Chief Minister Elahi gets a call and is told not to dissolve the assemblies.
