US continues to discuss ways to help Pakistan counter TTP threat.

Washington: The US on Friday reiterated its desire for a “strong partnership” with Pakistan on counter-terrorism and said it would “discuss ways to end all regional and global terrorist threats”. “Continuing conversations about how we can be most effective.”

When asked to comment on Washington’s calls to help Islamabad deal with TTP threats amid a surge in terror incidents, a State Department spokesperson said in an email to JEE News. The official said that both countries have been badly affected by the scourge of terrorism.

During a press briefing on Monday, spokesman Ned Price said the department was following up on reports that militants had taken over a counter-terrorism center in Bannu and expressed its deepest sympathies to those injured.

“We have partnered with our Pakistani friends to help them meet this challenge,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesman added that there are terrorist groups in Afghanistan, in the Afghan-Pakistan border region, which pose a potentially clear threat not only to Pakistan but also to countries and people outside of it.
