Moonis Elahi says a ‘political settlement’ can be brokered by establishment.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Munis Elahi said on Saturday that the establishment could mediate a political settlement in the country, but clarified that the establishment has not yet approached him.

Moonis said that Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi – his father – would take a vote of confidence and claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muslim League-Q There are enough legislators to ensure the pass. The divine won.

He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan will decide on the date of the trust vote, adding that as per the instructions of the former prime minister, the assemblies will also be dissolved.

A day earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) reinstated Elahi as chief minister after the PML-Q leader, a staunch ally of Khan, assured him that once reinstated in office After that they will not dissolve the assembly.

But in a twist of events, both Elahi and the PTI reiterated their resolve to end the legislative session after the chief minister submitted an affidavit to the LHC that he would not dissolve the assembly.

Moonis claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) was creating a “market” to buy MLAs in Punjab to ensure that the numbers game was in their favour. However, he reiterated that their number in the Punjab Assembly is complete.

Throwing light on the seat adjustment for the next elections, the PML-Q leader revealed that talks have been held with the PTI chief after which a committee has been formed to consider possible steps.

Munis recalled that during the 2018 general elections, he was not allowed to contest in his family’s seat and was instead asked to contest in a by-election.

He claimed that defecting PTI leaders Jahangir Khan Tareen and Aleem Khan asked him not to contest the election saying that this seat belonged to PTI.

Speculating about the involvement of Aleem and Tareen in the case, he said, “A day after I demanded the seat [before the 2018 general elections], a case was filed against me by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Notice issued.

Responding to a question regarding the differences between Elahi and Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat, Moonis said: “Shujaat was led astray by his children.”

Shujaat and Elahi, who were considered extremely close, parted ways earlier this year when the former decided against supporting the latter for the post of chief minister.
