Ahead of New Year’s Eve, the district administrations of Karachi and Islamabad on Friday imposed a ban on double riding.
Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon has also imposed a complete ban on carrying weapons, aerial firing, bursting of firecrackers and double riding of motorcycles or scooters in the local limits of Karachi for two days starting from December 31 on the occasion of New Year. with immediate effect on the morning of January 1.
Violators of the metropolitan ban will be booked by the city police under Section 188 PPC, as directed by Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners.
“On this night, a large number of youths from different areas of the city will head towards Seaview on motorcycles and cars, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to the residents of the area,” the notification said.
The DIGP South Zone has requested that Section 144 bans “carrying and display of arms, aerial firing, firecrackers, dual riding of motorcycles or scooters to protect the lives of citizens”. .
The city administration has also warned the public to avoid aerial firing that may lead to “unpleasant incidents or loss of human life”, after which it has banned carrying and displaying weapons, aerial firing, firecrackers, motorcycles or scooters. Meanwhile, ban on double riding in the federal capital will be in force from 6 pm on December 31, 2022 (Saturday) to 2 am on January 1, 2023.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has issued a notification banning the imposition of Section 144 in the capital.
The district administration warned of action against those violating the ban.
Meanwhile, security measures have been tightened in the federal capital after the government decided to deploy additional personnel of Islamabad Police and Frontier Corps at check posts.
The police say that 1,000 FC personnel have been deployed to assist the federal capital police.
“FC personnel will also be deployed at check posts at 25 locations in Islamabad,” the capital’s police said.
It added that in view of security, e-check posts have been set up at various locations in the federal capital and they will be monitored by Safe City.
Islamabad Police says that the protection of life and property of citizens is the first priority. He has asked the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
