Instant messaging app WhatsApp, like every year, is set to pull its messaging services for some smartphones, leaving many users without the app in just one day, reports JEE News.
The Meta-owned messaging app keeps rolling out new updates, but some users of smartphones running older operating systems will be out of sync after December 31 (today).
The company will end its services for the smartphones listed below that have outdated operating systems and will be unable to support upgraded versions of the messaging app with future updates.
Users will get a warning message before the app stops working on their phone.
“Devices and software change frequently, so we regularly review which operating systems we support and update,” a statement released by WhatsApp said.
“These devices may not have the latest security updates, or may lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp. To choose what to stop supporting, every year We, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the least number of people still using them.”
If you want to update your operating system on iPhone, go to “General” settings and select “Software Update”.
