Quetta: Gwadar Police on Monday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Haq Du Tehreek leader Maulana Hidayatur Rehman on charges of murder, attempted murder and inciting people to violence and other charges.
A police constable was killed by an angry mob during violent protests in Gwadar.
On December 28, Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Longo ordered an FIR to be registered against Rehman over the policeman’s martyrdom.
According to the Balochistan Police, constable Yasir Saeed was martyred by the firing of protesters at the Haq Du Tehreek sit-in.
Situation returned to normal in Gwadar.
Balochistan Chief Secretary (CS) Abdul Aziz Aqeeli on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the current situation in Gwadar to review issues of public importance and maintain peace in the area.
Additional CS Home, Fisheries Department, PHE Department, Sports Department, Information Department, Secretary, and CEO Kesko attended the meeting. Meanwhile, Commander Makran, Director General GDA and Deputy Commissioner Gwadar were present through video link.
In the meeting, the Chief Secretary was briefed about the law and order situation and other issues regarding the current situation in Gwadar by the officials of the relevant institutions.
The concerned official said that commercial centers, petrol pump banks and shops have opened in Gwadar city.
Mobile telephone service has been restored in Gwadar and tourism is gradually recovering.
Offloading and transportation of wheat from the ship anchored at Gwadar Port is in progress.
Secretary Fisheries Department said that strict action has been taken to prevent illegal trawling and joint patrols involving gunboats are ongoing.
He said that action has been taken against the officers of the Fisheries Department involved in illegal trawling and corruption.
The Chief Secretary directed that provision of civic amenities to the people of Gwadar should be ensured and no shortage of clean water should be allowed in any part of the city.
A sense of ownership should be highlighted in the development projects among the people of Gwadar.
He also directed that water sports, cricket and other sports competitions be held in Gwadar on the pattern of traditional Sabi Mela and Pakistan Super League.
