London: Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s son Junaid Safdar has reached Pakistan to settle permanently. Sources have confirmed that Maryam Nawaz will return to Pakistan in two weeks while her son Junaid and his wife Ayesha Saif will arrive in Pakistan from Doha on Friday.

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz left London for Geneva on Wednesday afternoon to spend a week. Junaid Safdar accompanied his mother and grandfather on a three-week European tour in October and November. As Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz arrived in Geneva, Junaid and his wife Ayesha were preparing to leave for Pakistan from Doha, Qatar.

The couple arrived in Doha a week ago and stayed at Ayesha Saif’s house.

A source confirmed that the couple will move to Pakistan permanently to support Maryam Nawaz in her political activities.

Junaid Safdar, a Cambridge graduate, holds two Masters and two Bachelors degrees from UK universities. He is a polo enthusiast and has won several competitions representing British universities.

Maryam is expected to return home in about a week after her visit to Geneva. However, the final decision on Nawaz Sharif’s return is yet to be taken. Sources say that preparations are underway for the supremo of the Muslim League-N to return to Pakistan in a few months.

It should be noted that Maryam Nawaz is likely to take center stage after being recently appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer of Muslim League (N). Before her promotion, she held the post of Vice President of Muslim League (N) and has been very active in campaigning for the party and organizing public meetings in various cities.

In a statement on Twitter, Aurangzeb said that Maryam has been appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is the president of the Muslim League-N, under the party’s constitution.

Maryam was appointed as one of the party’s 16 vice-presidents on 3 May 2019.

His appointment was challenged by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which expressed its reservations. The then Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi questioned how a person convicted by a court can be made Vice President.
