Reports that Pakistan had carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan were categorically denied by the Foreign Office as “completely baseless and malicious”.

The FO’s statement came after persistent fake news by some Afghan journalists on Thursday that Pakistani warplanes had bombed suspected hideouts of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. However, security officials of both countries have denied this claim.

According to JEE News, the journalists also shared an old photo of smoke billowing from the mountain, which it claimed was the site that had been targeted by Pakistani jets.

Fake news was also widely shared in WhatsApp groups of Afghan journalists, claiming that several Pakistani militants had been killed in airstrikes.

Interestingly, Pakistani security officials as well as TTP militants in Afghanistan denied the reports of airstrikes.

According to sources in the Afghanistan-based daily Hasht Sobh, Pakistan “bombed targets in Salala neighborhood near Gushta district” on Thursday morning.

Reacting to reports in the Afghan media, Baloch said the reports were “absolutely baseless and malicious”.

The development is significant as Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the outlawed TTP announced a ceasefire with Pakistan on November 28 last year. Over the course of a few months.

The banned outfit has been responsible for more than 100 attacks in the past year. Most of these attacks took place after August when his peace talks with the government proved fruitless.

Following the unprecedented resurgence of terrorist activities in the country, the apex security forum – the National Security Committee (NSC) – decided not to allow any country to provide safe havens and facilities to terrorists. Pakistan reserves all rights to protect its people.

In this 40th session of the NSC held in Islamabad, the forum vowed to respond strongly to the resurgence of terrorism and termed militancy as the “enemy of Pakistan”.

Pakistan has welcomed the killing of ISIS militants.
Meanwhile, at the weekly media briefing, the spokesman appeared muted on reports from Kabul that ISIS militants involved in the attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul had been killed and referred to his affairs. There has been no change in Pakistan’s position.

“We have seen the reports and are trying to verify them. We will share our position once the information is verified. The Pakistan Governor is here for consultation and once the consultation is complete, They will go back.

He reiterated that Pakistan is committed and capable of countering any threat to its peace and security and to engage with Afghanistan to discuss all issues of mutual concern, including border safety and security. Will continue.
