Attock: A local court has acquitted Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafiq of the blasphemy case filed for their involvement in the Masjid Nabawi (PBUH) incident.

Judicial Magistrate Attock Muhammad Arif pronounced the verdict today. A case of hooliganism was registered against the two leaders in Masjid Nabawi (PBUH).

A case of blasphemy was registered against the former interior minister in the New Airport police station of Attock.

Incident
On April 28, 2022, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Shah Zain Bugti, Mohsin Dawar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chaudhry Salik and four members of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s staff also visited him. were accompanied.

But as soon as Maryam Aurangzeb and Shah Zain reached the Bugti Masjid, the protesters saw the Prime Minister and started chanting “thief, thief” and harassed him and raised objectionable slogans.

The protesters also abused and pulled the hair of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Shah Zain Bugti.

The protesters kept filming the entire incident with their mobile phones.

After the incident, political and religious leaders and people belonging to different sections of the society expressed extreme anger and outrage over the incident and strongly condemned the political sloganeering in the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.

Sheikh Rasheed’s nephew arrested
Shafiq was arrested at Islamabad airport on his arrival from Saudi Arabia in connection with the sloganeering incident.

Confirming the arrest of his nephew, Rashid said that he had reached Pakistan after performing Umrah when he was arrested.

“None of us were in Saudi Arabia, but still cases are registered [against us]. Residences are being raided after cases are registered,” Rashid said.

The night after the Masjid Nabawi (PBUH) incident, Shafiq posted a video from the holy site supporting the hooliganism.

He also hinted that the same would happen to him when the delegation visited the Holy Kaaba in Makkah.

Leaders sold out.
Several leaders, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan, were among the 150 or so people who were booked.

A case against the accused was registered in Faisalabad’s Medina Town police station on the complaint of a citizen named Mohammad Naeem.

The persons named in the case include former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Communications Dr Shahbaz Gul, former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Pakistani-born British businessman Anil Musarat and others. . and others.

The complainant referred to the statements of Sheikh Rasheed and Rashid Shafiq and said that the incident took place under a premeditated conspiracy.
