Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that a tit-for-tat move seems to be taking Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vote of confidence.

The comments came after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) threatened to quit the coalition government at the Center – whose votes are crucial to keeping the current prime minister in office.

The MQMP had threatened to quit the federal government if its concerns regarding delimitation of constituencies in Karachi and Hyderabad were not addressed before the January 15 local elections.

However, in an attempt to keep them together, Prime Minister Shehbaz, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman invited the MQMP to join them. It was assured to remove the reservations.

Against the backdrop of recent political developments in the country, Khan said in an interview to a private television channel: “PTI has passed the test. Now Shahbaz Sharif will be fully tested.

Referring to Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi’s recent vote of confidence, Khan said: “Our numbers are complete. Monis Elahi worked hard at the last minute to get the required number of PML-Q.

The cricketer-turned-politician denied allegations of horse-trading, saying the PDM still stuck to “changa-manga politics”.

“The country has changed and they don’t realize it,” the PTI chairman said, adding that for the first time in the country’s history, Punjab was pitted against the establishment during by-elections in July 2022. “By-Elections Changed. Country Politics.”

The former prime minister said that he realized that the opposition was surprised that Chief Minister Elahi got the required number of votes after seeing his pictures sitting in the assembly.

“They thought the establishment was behind them and they would win,” the PTI chief said, taunting the opposition.

Appreciating Chief Minister Elahi’s support for his decisions in Punjab’s political affairs, Khan said: “The way Elahi stood by us, he was greatly appreciated in the party. He was the chief minister and he made a real sacrifice. We are suggesting that they merge the party.

He insisted that the merger with PTI would be in the interest of Muslim League (Q). Now only PTI ticket will work in the election. Whoever leaves the party at that time, will end his politics.

Reflecting on the challenges he faced during his tenure as prime minister, Khan said the three-and-a-half years were “agonizing” for him.

The PTI chairman criticized the federal government for spending on foreign trips. “They are going to ask for money and stay in the most expensive hotels. They don’t care that Pakistan’s money is being spent,” he said, adding that the country needs a strong government to take decisions. .

Reiterating his fear of political engineering, the PTI chief said: “I see political engineering in the country right now. They are merging MQMP and Balochistan Awami Party into Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). P) is being sent to

Khan revealed that there are plans to give seats to People’s Party in South Punjab and Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while people in Punjab are being asked to join PML-N.

They have learned nothing from the past. Political engineering has ruined the country,” he lamented.

PTI’s decision to bring no-confidence motion against Prime Minister
On the other hand, PTI has decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister in the National Assembly, a party statement said.

This decision was taken after a meeting of the central leadership of the party chaired by Imran Khan, in which it was decided to file a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shehbaz.
