Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday insisted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sufficient numbers to win a vote of confidence from the National Assembly.
This statement of the federal minister came a few days after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will have to take a vote of confidence.
Against the backdrop of the recent political developments in the country and the apparent widening gulf between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) and the federal government, Khan said in an interview to a private television channel: “The PTI has ruled During 2015 by the government during 2015 by the government in a statement regarding the 2018 elections.Examination Now there will be a full examination of Shahbaz Sharif.
Responding to a question about the PTI accepting the resignations of 34 MNAs, the minister called it a “political move”. He further said that no one should object to this move.
Talking to Geo News program today with Shahzeb Khanzada, he said that politically our move is absolutely correct.
Criticizing the PTI leadership, Asif said that they first resigned and then started maligning the assembly.
Government will not succumb to politics of blackmail
In response to a question, the federal minister said that the coalition government will not succumb to the politics of blackmail.
Asif said that if we can accept 35 resignations, we can also accept the remaining 70.
He added that he was “ready for the by-elections in Punjab and KP”.
The Defense Minister reiterated that the coalition government would complete its constitutional term.
‘PTI MNAs will return to National Assembly’
Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar said that his party chairman Imran Khan will contest the by-elections on all 35 National Assembly seats.
Reacting to PDM’s decision, the PTI leader claimed: “Whether the ruling alliance participates or not, Khan will win all the seats”.
He added that the government took this decision because it feared that the PTI would return to the National Assembly. Whether we have 35 MNAs in the assembly or not, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will have to take a vote of confidence.
He urged the Speaker to accept the resignations of all MNAs of PTI and said that the resignations of the MLAs whose resignations have not been accepted yet will return to the Assembly.
