Case has been registered against senior leaders of PTI in Karachi for vandalizing DC office

KARACHI: Senior leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Metropolis has been named in a First Information Report (FIR) for allegedly vandalizing the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kemari as local body elections. Counting of votes is in progress.

The PTI protested outside the DC’s office on Wednesday, where Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers were also present. Workers of both the political parties pelted stones as a result of which two journalists were also injured.

A case was registered against the PTI leaders in the police station site area on the complaint of the manager of the People’s Service Center. PTI nominated leaders include Ali Zaidi, Bilal Ghaffar, Attaullah, Saeed Afridi, Dawa Khan and other unknown persons.

“PTI leaders and workers ransacked the office, damaged vehicles, and took office equipment including laptops. Three civilians were also injured in the firing amid the chaos,” the FIR said. The FIR said.

The FIR contains nine sections – 147 (rioting), 148 (committing a riot and being armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (every member of an unlawful assembly guilty of an offense against a public object), 186 ( Obstructing a public servant in public service). Acts), 324 (Attempt to murder), 380 (Theft), 427 (Mischief causing loss of fifty rupees), 506 (Criminal threats) and 7ATA (Committing terrorism).

‘Attack’
In response, Zaidi condemned the filing of a case against him and his fellow leaders.

“Attack on us! Our people injured! Media personnel injured! And they filed an FIR against us! #Zardari mafia at work!” Zaidi wrote in a post on Twitter that also included pictures of the FIR.

Meanwhile, PTI and its leaders also condemned the case and criticised PPP for it.

PTI leader Qasim Durrani said that cruelty and hooliganism are on the rise in Sindh. He said that an FIR was registered against the attackers.

He added that PPP’s loss is evident from their actions but “the people of Pakistan will soon take revenge for every oppression in the elections”.
