LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz has finally reached the provincial capital with the task of restructuring the party ahead of crucial elections to two assemblies – Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Maryam, who was appointed as the chief organizer of the party, landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport from Abu Dhabi at 3:30 pm after her flight was slightly delayed.
After being acquitted in the Avenfield reference case, the daughter of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was in London to spend time with her father since October.
“Long live Pakistan,” Maryam tweeted after landing and while talking to JEE News, the senior PML-N leader said that she will use all her energies to strengthen the party.

Ahead of her arrival, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said on Twitter: “Party leaders, workers and supporters are eagerly waiting for Maryam.”
The federal minister further said that Maryam Nawaz will start restructuring the organizational setup of the party after returning home.

Maryam is likely to play a more prominent role in the country’s political events after her appointment as PML-N’s chief organizer earlier this month.
Prior to her promotion, Maryam served as the vice-president of the PML-N and was active in the party’s election campaigns.
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has authorized Maryam Nawaz to lead rallies and meetings in Punjab along with Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.
Flight delay
Maryam Nawaz’s flight PK 264 was delayed due to a medical emergency. The flight was scheduled to depart for Pakistan at 11am Emirates local time, but was delayed after a passenger on board complained of heart pain.
On the complaint, the medical team reached the plane and conducted a medical examination of the passenger. The passenger was offloaded and taken to the hospital for further medical attention.
The flight left Abu Dhabi for Lahore at 12:54 PM after an hour delay.
Talking to journalists in the plane, Maryam Nawaz said that the government is doing its best to bring Pakistan back to the path of prosperity.
