The latest version of WhatsApp, 23.2.0.75, was just rolled out by the Test Flight Beta program. So, what’s included in this update?
According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, reacting to messages within an announcement group is a new feature that is in development. According to reports, several users have discovered that they are unable to respond to messages posted in the WhatsApp community announcement group.
It is not possible to reply to messages in a community announcement group because doing so will make your phone number public. WhatsApp is working on making it so that your phone number is hidden when replying to messages in that particular group.
WABetaInfo learned that WhatsApp is working on the same feature for a future update of the iOS app, thanks to the recently released WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.2.0.75.
This screenshot shows that WhatsApp is “creating an in-app banner to announce an update that brings reactions to messages within the announced group”.

In this situation WhatsApp will need to be updated from the App Store or the TestFlight app to reply to messages posted within the Community Announcements group.
In a later version, a feature to reply to messages sent within a community announcement group will be made available. More details about the update will be available when the functionality is available to some beta testers.
TestFlight build is 23.2.0 (441749694), and WhatsApp version is marked as 2.23.2.75 in settings.
