Terrorist plan foiled in Mianwali, DPO

District Police Officer (DPO) Mianwali Mohammad Naveed said that 15 to 20 terrorists armed with modern weapons attacked the Makarwal police station but were repulsed by the law enforcement agency.

The Mianwali terror attack comes two days after a major bomb blast at a mosque in police lines in Peshawar killed at least 100 people.

The DPO said that some terrorists were injured in the retaliatory firing by the policemen. The assailants fled from the spot along with their injured companions.

The DPO reported that all law enforcement officers were unharmed in the attack. The police cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation.

In response to the attack, security arrangements have been stepped up in Multan, other cities of Punjab and the entire district of Sargodha.

The police have increased the security arrangements at the entrances and exits of the city.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also praised the Punjab Police for repelling the terror attack. He announced that rewards and rewards would be given to the police personnel involved in repelling the attack.

The Prime Minister also assured that the police and counter-terrorism department will be equipped to deal with terrorists.

Meanwhile, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the police for repelling the attack.

“The brave sons of the police bravely crushed the nefarious intentions of the terrorists,” Naqvi said. He hailed the bravery of the police personnel in foiling the terror attack.

CM Naqvi said, “These young policemen are heroes, the nation is proud of its brave sons.”

Inspector General Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar spoke to the station house officer of the police station on phone and praised him and his men for thwarting the attack.
