ISLAMABAD: Another Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shandana Gulzar Khan has been booked for sedition for her controversial remarks in a TV talk show.

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed by Islamabad Magistrate Abdul Hadi on January 31 at a women’s police station in the federal capital.

The former PTI MNA was booked under Sections 153-A (promoting enmity between groups), 505 (statements inciting public riot) and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sections 124-A and 153-A are non-bailable charges while the accused is bailable when charged under Section 505 of the PPC.

After Azam Swati and Fawad Chaudhry, Shandana Gulzar Khan is the third member of the opposition assembly against whom a sedition case has been registered. Both former federal ministers are currently on bail.

In the FIR, the complainant alleged that he heard the PTI leader making serious allegations and tried to incite violence through his comments on a TV channel.

“Peshawar is my city, I have seen it destroyed during the reign of General Musharraf. It is unfortunate for Pakistan that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa comes under the brunt of terrorist attacks when generals think of themselves as gods,” the police complaint said.

The FIR further stated that the PTI leader had in a way hinted that terrorism was taking place in KP in a planned manner.

According to the FIR, the PTI leader also tried to create unrest and incite violence in the country through his comments.
