ISLAMABAD: Two gunmen raped a girl at gunpoint in Islamabad’s F-9 area, police said on Saturday, an incident that shocked the city.
The incident took place on Thursday night when two armed men approached the victim, who was there with her male companion, at a park in F-9, according to a First Information Report (FIR).
According to the FIR, the gunman assailants took the duo at gunpoint to a nearby bush and separated them. The FIR states that the assailants beat up the young woman when she pleaded with them to let her go and offered them money in exchange for her safety.
The victim, when she tried to raise her voice, the assailants beat her and threatened to call her “friends” to join them. The assailants also thwarted his attempts to escape, the FIR said.
According to the FIR, while they were fleeing to a nearby bush, the rapists “returned all our belongings and gave us Rs 1,000 to keep quiet” and also told the victim to leave her at that time of night. Shouldn’t be in the park. .
Margalla Police confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused and police have started investigation into the incident.
According to the police, the accused are being traced through CCTV footage and Safe City cameras. Police officials added that F-9 Park officials are also being questioned to get clues about the accused.
Hospital sources confirmed that the victim underwent a medical examination at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Friday. Sources say that marks of torture have been found on the girl’s body. Meanwhile, the samples taken from the victim have been sent to the forensic laboratory for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test. A forensic check-up of the woman confirmed that the 24-year-old victim had rape marks on her body. “The victim has injuries on her leg and face,” PIMs sources said.
