It is reported that one person was killed and eight others were injured in a suicide blast on Golestan Road in Quetta on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased is said to be a security official, identified as Tanveer. The police claimed to have found the remains of the suspected suicide bomber from the blast site.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the outlawed group said their targets were security personnel.
Security forces have sealed the area.
Police claim the attacker was on foot and detonated the suicide vest. The blast on Quetta’s busy Golestan Road was so intense that its sound was heard far and wide.
The injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital, Benazir Hospital and Combined Military Hospital while the rescue operation is going on.
The police say that as soon as the explosion was reported, the teams of the bomb disposal squad reached the spot. They also collected evidence and ball bearings from the crime scene.
