An Islamabad court on Wednesday approved the remand of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid.

Murree police took him into custody after a court order.

The court ordered the police to produce the AML chief at 2 pm on Thursday.

Rashid was arrested for accusing former president and co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari of plotting the assassination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

Later, the Murree police registered another case against him for misbehaving with a policeman during his arrest.

Speaking informally to the media after the hearing, the former minister asserted that efforts were being made to change his loyalties, but he would not act on it, even if it cost him.

He claimed he was asked to meet an ‘important person’ last night, but refused.

Rashid said that at this age he cannot change his loyalties.

And after a short break, Rashid’s Twitter account posted another tweet.

He wrote that they have decided to disqualify Imran Khan. They are telling me to leave it. I was told that the provincial and central elections will be held simultaneously. When someone comes to see me, I am blindfolded and my hands are tied. They want to form another party from within PTI. They did not investigate my cases.
