Ukraine’s leader has taken his request for fighter jets to France and Germany after meeting with British officials.

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the leaders of the two countries in Paris on Wednesday evening, where he pledged continued support for Ukraine.

France’s Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Olaf Schulz reiterated their belief that Russia should not win the war.

Mr Zielinski will make further requests for the jets when he meets EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday.

He believes that apart from the Leopard 2 tanks, fighter jets and long-range missiles, which the West has recently promised to supply, are also important.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Mr Macron and Mr Schulz on Wednesday evening, Mr Zelensky said France and Germany would provide Ukraine with battle tanks, advanced fighter jets and long-range strike aircraft to fight against Russia. I have the potential to be a “game changer”. Missile

He said the delivery of jets had been discussed, and warned there was “very little time” to deliver the weapons.

Mr Macron said Ukraine could count on France’s support and that the country was “committed to helping Ukraine win and re-establish its legitimate rights.”

Mr Schulz also said: “The position remains unchanged: Russia must not win this war.”

This means that whether the two countries can commit to the delivery of fighter jets is currently unclear.

Both the French president and the German chancellor have at times been criticized for being too slow to support Ukraine.

Mr Zelensky has previously expressed frustration with Mr Macron, who has been on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the attack.

But the Ukrainian president told JEE News that he believed Mr Macron had changed. He said that his commitment to support Ukraine’s victory and that fact “opened the door” for the delivery of the tanks last month.

Mr Zielinski’s visit to Brussels on Thursday comes after he addressed the UK Parliament on Wednesday.

There, he also urged London to provide fighter jets to help Ukraine’s war effort.

“Freedom will win – we know Russia will lose,” he told a crowd of MPs and peers in Westminster Hall, adding that Britain was marching to “the most important victory of our lifetime”. He was with his country.

Downing Street said Defense Secretary Ben Wallace was investigating what aircraft the UK could potentially offer, but stressed it was a “long-term solution” and training pilots could take years. .

Russia has warned that there will be a “retaliation” from Moscow if anyone supplies the planes to Ukraine.
