Accused of conspiracy to murder: Sheikh Rashid’s bail application rejected

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday rejected the post-arrest bail plea of former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid.

The Awami Muslim League (AML) chief was accused of plotting to assassinate Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, threatening police personnel and “aggressive” against Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto. Faced with accusations of making “dirty” comments. Zardari in many cities.

He is currently in the custody of the Murree police on interim remand in a case of threatening police officials.

After being rejected by the judicial magistrate, Rashid’s lawyers had filed a new bail application for the former minister in the sessions court. However, Sessions Court Judge Tahir Mehmood sent the application to the Additional Sessions Court.

The petition stated that Rashid was subjected to political vendetta and misused by the police against him. No further investigation was required as he was on judicial remand in Adiala Jail.

It should be noted that this application was filed before the trial court handed over Rashid to the police on interim remand to transfer him to Murree.

Meanwhile, Rashid was produced in the court of Civil Judge Muhammad Zeeshan in Murree, the police sought a three-day physical remand of the former minister.

However, the court rejected the request of the police and ordered Rashid to be sent to jail on judicial remand.

On Wednesday, a local court in Islamabad sent AML chief Rashid Ahmed to police custody on interim remand in a case registered in Murree for threatening the police.
