ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday urged all political parties to come on the same page to overcome the crises the country is currently facing.

Bilawal Bhutto while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Golden Jubilee celebrations of 1973 Constitution at Parliament House shared that the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to form a committee and it Tasked with building consensus among stakeholders. On resolving all issues and formulating a code of conduct for moving forward.

The PPP chairman said that the committee would approach all political parties to contest the elections and lay down the rules of the game for the smooth functioning of the country.

Attacking the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bilawal claimed that the frivolous thinking of the Imran Khan-led party is harmful not only to the opposition but to the entire country and its democracy.

“He [PTI chief Imran Khan] says he can sit for talks with terrorists but not with parliamentarians,” lamented Bilawal.

The foreign minister said that Imran Khan’s stubbornness and non-cooperation is harming the interests of the people. He said that for the smooth running of the country, the rules of the game have to be formulated and all the stakeholders should agree on it so that the country can be run smoothly. He urged the public representatives to build a consensus on the code of conduct and implement it.

Lamenting Imran Khan’s attitude, the minister observed that the PTI chairman is ready to negotiate with anti-state elements but is “allergic” to sitting with fellow politicians. He said that the constitution guarantees the rights of the people, journalists and others.

He said that earlier only the rich and powerful were given the right to vote. The 1973 constitution forced the powerful elite to approach the common man to beg for votes, he said, adding that former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto led a revolution that overpowered the common people.
