LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has resumed the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s bail plea.

At the beginning of the hearing, advocate Azhar Siddique submitted his power of attorney on behalf of Imran Khan, who has been directed to appear in court in person today.

The PTI chief had approached the Lahore High Court a day ago after being denied bail by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad. The ATC had canceled the bail in the case registered against the PTI chief for protesting outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office.

Yesterday, during the hearing, Lahore High Court Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh remarked that PTI Chairman will be given security only if he appears in court in person.

The ousted prime minister, who was ousted by a no-confidence motion, was booked in October last year after the ECP announced the Tosha Khanna verdict, sparking protests across the country. It happened.

Khan was on medical bail after he was injured in an assassination attack during a rally in Wazirabad on November 3.

Not only did the ATC summon the PTI chief, the banking court also asked Khan to appear before it in the prohibited funding case. However, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) gave a sigh of relief to the former prime minister and ordered the banking court to deliver its verdict by February 22.

The LHC said it would ensure Khan’s safety and asked his counsel to ensure the presence of the PTI chief today as personal appearance in the protective bail case is the first rule.

“Whether you bring him on a stretcher or in an ambulance, it doesn’t matter but without his personal appearance I will not grant bail,” Justice Shaikh told the legal team before adjourning the hearing till today.
