Imran Khan mentioned that the former army chief had committed “violations” and requested Arif Alvi to “initiate an immediate inquiry against him as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces”.
The PTI chairman referred to a column published in a newspaper earlier this month in which shocking revelations about Imran Khan’s government were attributed to General (retd) Bajwa.
“He has admitted to a journalist that ‘we’ (and he must know who we are) consider Imran Khan a danger to the country if he remains in power,” Khan said. said, the question arises as to who gave them the authority to decide that an elected prime minister is a threat to the country.
The PTI Chairman said that only the people can decide who they want to elect as the Prime Minister through elections.
“Taking such a right upon himself is a clear violation of his oath as given in Article 244 of the Third Schedule of the Constitution,” he alleged.
Referring to the Shaukat Tareen corruption case, Bajwa claimed that the former finance minister approached the then Detective General (retd) Faiz Hamid to sort out the matter.
“Irrespective of the merits of his claims in this case, he has also admitted that he was able to get the NAB case against Shaukat Tareen dismissed, showing that NAB is under his control – once again. “There is a clear violation of the constitutional oath as the army itself is a department. The Ministry of Defense and civilian government autonomous bodies do not come under military control,” Khan wrote.
The former prime minister quoted another journalist as saying that General (retd) Bajwa had “tapes of then Prime Minister Imran Khan’s conversation with him”.
The PTI chief wrote that this is yet another ‘serious violation’ of the former army chief’s oath and a ‘violation’ of basic human rights.
The question is why General Bajwa was recording the secret conversation and under what permission?
Imran Khan alleged that General (retd) Bajwa violated his oath when he openly went against the then government’s policy of maintaining neutrality in the Russia-Ukraine war.
“He said this at an international conference – Islamabad Security Conference in Islamabad on April 2, 2022. I would like to point out that the government’s policy is after the consensus of all stakeholders including MOFA and retired diplomats. was prepared by those who had relevant experience and were experts in the area.
“I would also point out that Chapter II of the Constitution sets out the mandate of the Armed Forces and specifically refers to Articles 243 and 244. Therefore, it is your constitutional duty as the President and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to They should take immediate action and institute an inquiry to ascertain whether such serious violations of the Constitution and the oath of office under the Constitution have taken place.
