Karachi: Cricket legend Javed Miandad was shifted to Metropolis Hospital due to his health deterioration.

Sources told JEE News that the legend – best known for hitting a last-ball six against India in the Australia-Asia Cup final in 1986 – was taken to a medical facility after a “sudden collapse”.

As news of Miandad’s hospitalization spread, the former cricketer released a video message and told fans that his illness was “not serious”.

Miandad said, “I have heard that people are worried about my health but I want to make it clear that I have only come to the hospital for a check-up after a mild headache.”

“There is nothing to worry about and I will return home soon,” he added.

The 65-year-old played 124 Tests and 233 ODIs during his illustrious career. He was also part of Pakistan’s winning team in the 1992 World Cup.

Born in Karachi, he made his debut in ODI cricket in 1975 but only got a Test cap a year later.

He took the wraps off his international career in 1996 after alleging that his talents were underutilized during that year’s World Cup.
