Mastung: Two personnel of Balochistan Levies Force (BLF) were martyred while one policeman was injured in separate attacks by terrorists in Mastung and Chaman respectively.
The attacks come at a time when the country is witnessing an increase in terrorist activities, with the latest deadly attack on the Karachi police office last week.
BLF officials said that the terrorists attacked a security post near Babri area of Mastung district and escaped with arms and ammunition kept there.
Assistant Commissioner of Mastung said that the area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to trace the militants.
Reacting to the incident, residents blocked the national highway N-40 connecting Quetta to Taftan.
Apart from this, a policeman was injured in an attack by armed men on a police post in Chaman.
PM Shahbaz Sharif, CM Balochistan condemned the attacks.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and prayed for the martyred soldiers. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
“The determination and morale of the security forces is high to destroy the terrorists,” the prime minister said, adding that the nation salutes its martyrs.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Qudous Bizenjo has also condemned the attacks.
“Incidents of terrorism are a cause for concern. The enemy wants to destroy the peaceful environment of the province,” he said.
Bizenjo also ordered the authorities to use all resources and remain alert to nab the terrorist elements. He also appealed to the people to unite to defeat the “conspiracy against peace and development”.
Terrorism is on the rise in Pakistan and recently there have been frequent attacks by extremists across the country.
Levies sources confirmed that one BLF official was killed and three others were injured in an attack by unknown persons in Dera Bugti on February 10.
This incident was immediately condemned by Chief Minister Bizenjo and Home Minister Zia Langao. Bizenjo had directed the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the incident and ensure the early arrest of the accused.
