Lakki Marwat: At least six terrorists were killed during an operation in Daduwala area of Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials told JEE News on Thursday. .
According to CTD, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the slain terrorists who were involved in terrorist attacks and attacks on security forces.
The CTD further said that the operation was launched after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Daduwala. The department added that the terrorists were planning to attack the Abbasiya police check post.
Terrorism is on the rise again as attacks across Pakistan have increased since the end of a ceasefire with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan last year.
The CTD is conducting continuous operations and increasing the speed of operations to curb terrorist activities as the security situation in the country continues to deteriorate.
A day earlier, on February 22, the CTD had conducted an operation in Peshawar’s Talaband area in which one militant was killed while five others were arrested in the exchange of fire.
The CTD said the terrorists belonged to the outlawed TTP and were involved in more than 20 incidents of extortion, grenade attacks and firing.
The CTD said in a statement that the arrested terrorists had demanded Rs 50 lakh from a citizen named Imtiaz and on his refusal, the terrorist attacked the victim’s house with a grenade and fired at him.
Two Kalashnikovs, six hand grenades, two pistols and cartridges have also been recovered from the attackers.
CTD also said that all the terrorists, including the slain terrorists, belonged to Afghanistan.
