The 24-year-old player, son of former international cricketer Moin Khan, grabbed attention with his explosive performance against Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Friday.

“When I met him after the match, he praised my innings and told me to do well,” revealed the hard-hitting batsman.
“My father is my biggest inspiration. He made me very strong mentally and always supported me to do well against all odds,” he said.
“He told me about criticism and helped me fight against it. I hope I can continue to be proud of him.”
Azam played a brilliant knock of 97 off just 42 balls against the Gladiators, who lost their fourth match out of five. He hit nine fours and eight maximums.
With an impressive strike rate of 230.95, the right-handed batsman helped United score 92 runs in the last five overs as the team posted a tournament-high score of 220-6.
“Strike rate is very important in T20 cricket. It’s my style of play and I really enjoy it,” Khan said. “In the position I bat in, you get very limited time to set,” he added.
Azam said he believes in mindset rather than technique. However, he added, he had to practice a lot for the new shots.
The young batsman dedicated his match-winning innings to his father and mother who watched the match at the stadium. “When my mother and father come to watch the match, I feel very stressed,” he said.
Khan, who has represented Pakistan in three Twenty20 Internationals, said he is fit enough to represent the country again.
He said that I try to take advantage of every opportunity. My fitness is perfect and I am ready to play for Pakistan whenever there is an opportunity.
