Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday that party leaders and activists will present their arrests in Gujranwala today after Peshawar and Multan police refused to detain party members. .

Fawad wrote on Twitter that ‘PTI leaders and workers will present themselves for arrest today in Gujranwala, police in Peshawar and Multan refused to arrest Tehreek-e-Insaf workers’.

The former information minister claimed: “More than two hundred workers in Lahore and Rawalpindi are currently in various jails and have refused bail applications.”

According to Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s reasoning, the movement aims to counter “attacks on constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights” and “economic mismanagement by the present government”.

The court arrest movement was started on February 22 from Lahore. Senior party leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Azam Swati, along with other party workers, voluntarily surrendered to the Lahore police on the first day of the campaign – and later, some others followed suit. of The movement later reached Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Multan.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has been detained during the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government’s “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (Court Arrest Campaign) for treating his party workers and leaders as terrorists. was strongly condemned.

Khan claimed in his tweet that his party’s leadership and workers are protesting against fascism, violation of fundamental rights and crushing of the nation.

Petitions for recovery have been filed.
Despite the “voluntary” arrests of leaders and activists, several petitions seeking their release were filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) earlier this week.

PTI Senator Ijaz Chaudhry filed petitions for the recovery of at least eight PTI leaders Umar, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Waleed Iqbal, Senator Swati, Murad Ras, John Madani, Azam Niazi and Ahsan Dogar.

Even medicine and food are not being provided to the leaders. The petition further said that the leaders are being held in wrongful custody. “False cases can be made against them to defame and hurt them.”

Chaudhry said there was no reason to keep them behind bars and urged the court to direct the police to produce the leaders before the Lahore High Court and not to resort to any illegal measures.

In his petition, Zain Qureshi appealed to the Lahore High Court to order the authorities to produce his father – PTI’s vice-chairman – who has been wrongly detained.

Shah Mehmood was detained yesterday and I am not being informed about his whereabouts.
