LAHORE: In an unprecedented move, Sabahat Rizvi has become the first woman elected to the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) since its inception.
Rizvi was elected as the first woman secretary in the LHC Bar Association elections on Saturday after securing 4,310 votes.

Rizvi was supported by a majority of lawyers and the AGHS Legal Aid Cell team of Asma Jahangir.
Another woman, Rabia Bajwa, was elected to the post of Vice President by getting 3590 votes.
Meanwhile, the professional group led by Hamid Khan defeated an independent group in the elections and won the presidential election. Ishtiaq A. Khan won the seat of President by getting 7 thousand 293 votes while his opponent Lahrasab Gondal could get only 3 thousand 372 votes.
Muhammad Shahrukh Shahbaz Waraich won the post of Finance Secretary by getting 7109 votes.
The total number of registered voters was 26,043 of which 24,271 were male and 1,772 were female lawyers. 10,576 voters exercised their right to vote.
