Islamabad: The local court of the federal capital on Monday approved the three-day physical remand of Lieutenant General (retd) Amjad Shoaib, rejecting the request of the police.
The former army officer was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah this morning after he was arrested by the Islamabad Police on charges of inciting people against national institutions.
During the hearing, the prosecution apprised the court of the case registered against the former three-star general and requested a seven-day physical remand.
Prosecutor Adnan took the stand that the former general tried to spread hatred between the government, the opposition and civil servants through his statement on TV.
The lawyer also told the court that he needs the photographic test of the ex-serviceman and for that purpose he has to be taken to Lahore.
The prosecutor requested the court to approve the seven-day physical remand of Lieutenant General (R) Shoaib.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen (retd) Shoaib’s lawyer Mudassir Khalid Abbasi opposed the physical remand request and requested the court to dismiss the case.
The lawyer said that the provisions of the FIR are not applicable to Amjad Shoaib. He added that his client had only given an example of a specific situation.
The lawyer also said that the case against Shoaib was filed on “political grounds”, adding that his client was also being harassed.
Abbasi argued that if legitimate criticism is wrong, end opposition to the system.
Qaiser Imam, Shoaib’s second lawyer, told the court that the ex-army officer had confessed to saying the words and there was no need for photography and voice-matching tests.
However, the prosecution told the magistrate that the test was necessary for the trial.
Shoaib’s third lawyer, State Ali Azad, told the court that his client was a patriot. He also stated that his client had fought the wars of 1965 and 1971.
After that, the three lawyers of the former army officer requested the court to dismiss the case. While the prosecution opposed the request to dismiss the case.

Earlier today, police personnel from Ramna police station arrested the former army officer from his residence in the federal capital after a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against him.
The FIR against Lt Gen (Rtd) Shoaib was registered on February 25 at Islamabad’s Ramna police station.
The FIR was registered under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and 505 (statements inciting public riot) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

According to the FIR filed on the complaint of Islamabad Magistrate Owais Khan, the former army officer through his controversial statements incited people to revolt against the institutions and tried to spread chaos and anarchy and create law and order situation in the country. . TV show.

The FIR said the ex-army official’s statement was part of a “planned conspiracy” to weaken the country.
Lt Gen (retd) Shoaib was earlier summoned by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appear on September 7 after he claimed a meeting between the Pakistani prime minister and an Israeli team. However, he failed to appear before the Cyber Crimes Wing of the FIA.
