Rawalpindi: Two youths were martyred in a fierce exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Spinwam area of North Waziristan on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations on Monday, the troops effectively located the hideout of the terrorists after which two terrorists were killed and two arrested.
“Arms and ammunition were also recovered from terrorists who were actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians,” the army’s media wing said.
The martyrs include 25-year-old Sepoy Imranullah, a resident of Bajaur District, and 21-year-old Sepoy Afzal Khan, a resident of Deer Bala District.
The ISPR added that the area is being swept to eliminate any terrorist presence in the area.
The statement said that “Pakistan Army is committed to end the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve”.
As Pakistan has been gripped by terrorism for the past few months, the country’s civil and military leadership has vowed to unite against terrorists.
The National Apex Committee comprising the country’s top military and political leadership last Friday sought a national consensus to root out militancy.
The recent spate of terrorist attacks in the country’s rural and urban centers, which claimed the lives of innocent Pakistanis and law enforcement agencies, has prompted the security forces and the LEA to step up operations against them.
