ISLAMABAD: The PTI, which has the support of four members of the National Assembly, including two members of the Muslim League (Q), nominated Shah Mehmood Qureshi as the Leader of the Opposition despite not being a member of the National Assembly.

Informed sources told JEE News on Tuesday that the team had concluded in its preliminary examination that the speaker should choose to ignore the communication because it was simply a prank.
The letter is written by a former Member of National Assembly who claims to be the Chief Whip of PTI in the National Assembly.
Ironically, he is also not a member of the National Assembly. Both had resigned from the House in April last year and their resignations have been accepted.
As a result, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already announced the schedule for elections to their seats and other members have also resigned.
The Lahore High Court has issued an injunction against by-elections to such seats, but he is no longer a member of the National Assembly.
In its letter, PTI has urged the Speaker to nominate Shah Mehmood Qureshi as the leader of the opposition. Interestingly, Raja Riaz Ahmed, who has the support of 23 opposition MNAs, is also anti-PTI.
PTI has asked Raja Pervez Ashraf to appoint his nominee (Shah Mehmood Qureshi) as the Leader of the Opposition so that Prime Minister/Leader of the House Shahbaz Sharif can be consulted for the election of the new NAB Chairman. A requirement of the constitution
Sources said that it is almost certain that no change in the leader of the opposition is possible till the general elections.
Former NAB chairman Aftab Sultan, who resigned last month, was appointed through consultation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz Ahmed. After his resignation, PTI has been lauding him for his honesty and integrity.
