An additional sessions court in Sukkur on Wednesday issued notice to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) senior vice-president and chief organizer Maryam Nawaz on March 10 on charges of insulting ‘state institutions’.
The notice was issued by Sukkur’s fifth additional sessions judge Mumtaz Solangi after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district president Zaheer Muhammad filed a petition in the court against the Muslim League-N leader. 22-A was requested to register a case. 6 and 22-B.
As per the contents of the notice, Maryam along with Station House Officer (SHO) Model Town Police Station, Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad, Deputy Director FIA Sukkur, SHO/In-charge FIA. Summoned in court. Cyber Crime Sukkur, and Senior Superintendent of Police/Deputy Superintendent of Police Complaint Cell Sukkur.
The court directed Maryam and other parties to submit a detailed report and asked them to appear on the said date at 8:30 am.
A day ago, in the petition filed by Zaheer, it was said that the Muslim League (N) member spoke against the institutions in his speech. He added that he tried to incite people to revolt against the institutions.
“The proposed accused Maryam Nawaz Sharif addressed the people of Sargodha and pointed out the alleged photographs in which former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid, former Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice (R) Saqib Nisar and others. Two sitting judges of the Supreme Court are currently part of a bench of the Supreme Court hearing the Spontaneous Notice case to determine whether elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Who has the constitutional responsibility and authority to announce the date,” the petition said.
In his plea to the court, the petitioner said the PML-N leader “gave hateful speech with the intention of inciting public hatred and agitation against state institutions”.
It said that the petitioner approached the FIA director to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Maryam, but he first “hoped for the petitioner and then flatly refused.” “.
Zaheer also wrote in his application about approaching the SSP of Sukkur, but to no avail. Therefore, he has now requested the court to direct the FIA director to file an FIR against the PML-N chief organizer.
