Islamabad/Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced to start election campaign from Saturday after Supreme Court (SC) decision to hold elections in Punjab and KP within 90 days.
Addressing a press conference through video link on Wednesday after the Supreme Court’s decision directing the ECP to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 90 days, the former prime minister said that he should address public gatherings during the election campaign. will announce PTI’s next action plan on Saturday.
He also announced to end Jail Bharo movement.
Imran said that the Law Minister tried to divide the Judiciary by giving a shameful statement, even after the decision of the Supreme Court, there was an aorta that there might not be elections in 90 days. He assured the Supreme Court on behalf of his party and the people that he stands by the judiciary.
Imran Khan said that the Judiciary fulfilled the responsibility of supremacy of the Constitution through its decision.
He said that we have embarked on the path that will make Pakistan a great country, adding that if such justice had been done earlier, the country would have been a developed country.
Giving examples of developed countries, the former prime minister emphasized that the development and prosperity of the nation is connected with justice.
Apparently referring to the government, he sneered at the ‘mafia’ for violating basic human rights, saying his government was ousted by an outside conspiracy. “They [the current rulers] tried their best to stay in power without seeking public opinion,” he added. After the Supreme Court’s decision, former Punjab Chief Minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi met Imran at Zaman Park and discussed the pre-polling strategy for the upcoming elections in Punjab. Elahi said that all relevant institutions should take immediate steps to implement the decision. He said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) should also know that the country will be run according to the constitution and not on the whim of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif or Maryam Nawaz.
He said that now the judiciary should also take notice of Maryam Nawaz’s attacks on the judiciary and should start processing the letter written by former Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan to the Chief Justice. He hoped that the ECP would announce the date and schedule of the elections without any delay after consultation with the President and Governor KP. Elahi said that Imran will form governments with a huge majority in Punjab and KP.
PDM does not have the courage to face Imran’s political popularity. Shahbaz Sharif is creating a record of false cases by filing cases on the basis of cruelty. On the other hand, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said that the Supreme Court has given clear orders and this is a victory for the Constitution and parliamentary democracy.
Fawad Fawad said in a tweet that ‘Punjab election date will be given by the President and KP Governor is bound to give the date immediately’. He claimed that the dissenting judges also accepted the principle of elections within 90 days. In another tweet, he said that a seven-member bench of the Supreme Court has ruled that it is illegal to use the Terrorism Act against political opponents. He alleged that there was no respect for any law or regulation after the establishment of this fascist regime. He said that those who came to welcome Imran Khan yesterday have been declared as terrorists.
