On Friday, the Lahore High Court ordered the release of the arrested leaders of the ‘Jail Bharo’ movement.
Lahore High Court Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh issued this order while hearing the petition filed by PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry for the release of detained party leaders.
According to Tehreek-e-Insaf’s reasoning, the movement aims to counter “attacks on constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights” and “economic corruption” by the current government.
The judicial arrest motion was initiated on February 22. Senior party leaders, including Qureshi, Omar, along with party workers voluntarily surrendered themselves to the Lahore police on the first day of the campaign – and later, some others followed suit.
However, on Wednesday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan welcomed the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision to suspend the “Jail Bharo Movement” in a spontaneous election notice, saying that the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The election campaign will continue. And Punjab.
Speaking to the media after his release, Umar said that he was proud to go to jail and that decisions made behind closed doors would end.
24 PTI workers including Asad Umar from Lahore and 59 workers from Sargodha have been transferred to Rajanpur District Jail.
PTI’s Zulfi Bukhari and Fayyazul Hasan Chauhan were also released from Sargodha Jail while Sadaqat Abbasi, Ejaz Khan and others were among those released.
