A two-day anti-terrorism dialogue between the US and Pakistan is starting from March 6 in Islamabad. The American delegation led by Christopher Landberg is expected to arrive in Pakistan for negotiations.

According to the spokesperson of the US State Department, the inter-Afghan delegation will discuss with their Pakistani counterparts a joint strategy to combat terrorism.

Discussions will also focus on border security and a plan to combat the financing of terrorism.

Both countries are of the position that Afghan soil is being used for terrorism against Pakistan. The deteriorating relationship between Islamabad and Kabul is a result of the failure of the Taliban government to act against the terrorists operating from Afghanistan.

The talks took place amid tensions between the two countries after a Pakistani court issued an arrest warrant against Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, the spokesperson of the US State Department made it clear that this is the problem of the Pakistani people, which is not America’s concern to deal with.

The United Nations recently revealed in a report that the Taliban have failed to fight the terrorists in Afghanistan.

The talks between the US and Pakistan are expected to develop a plan of action to combat the threat of terrorism and improve cooperation between the two countries.
