Pakistan’s seventh population and housing census began earlier this month, while the self-enumeration portal is currently operational. This process will end on April 1.
Within days of its opening, the Internet portal had recorded four million clicks. The survey’s fieldwork will be conducted by 121,000 field enumerators, who will use electronic devices to verify respondents’ information.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the data collected through this process will be used for public policy formulation and constituencies in the upcoming general elections.
As Pakistan has been reeling under terror attacks for the past few months, the country’s civil and military leadership has vowed to unite against terrorists.
The National Apex Committee comprising the country’s top military and political leadership sought a national consensus to root out militancy.
Recent attacks by terrorists in rural and urban centers of the country, which have claimed the lives of innocent Pakistanis and law enforcement agencies, have prompted security forces and the LEA to step up operations against them.
